We will gather on Zoom on Tuesday\, February 16th at 6pm to talk all about it. \n“This alternate history novel tells the story of Cora and Caesar\, two slaves in the southeastern United States during the 19th century\, who make a bid for freedom from their Georgia plantations by following the Underground Railroad\, which the novel depicts as primarily a rail transport system in addition to a series of safe houses and secret routes. \nThe Underground Railroad was a critical and commercial success\, hitting the bestseller lists and winning several notable prizes. It won the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction\, the 2016 National Book Award for Fiction\, the Arthur C. DESCRIPTION:Whether your child’s a bookworm or a struggling reader\, sharing a book with others is way more fun than reading solo. Each week\, students in grades 4-8 are invited to discuss a book from this year’s Vermont Middle Grade Book Award List. Participants may tell the group about any Vermont Middle Grade Books they’ve been reading and enjoy a read aloud of a book selected by the group. Students will keep a log of their reading & vote for their favorite book to win the Vermont Middle Grade Book Award in April. This year will be an opportunity to build our discussion skills and to share our experiences of these terrific books. DESCRIPTION:The Whiting Library is encouraging animal lovers to share the gift of giving from December 1st to December 31st by donating supplies to give to homeless animals at the Springfield Humane Society. \nNewton’s Laws of Motion are three physical laws that\, together\, lay the foundation for classical mechanics. They describe the relationship between a body and the forces acting upon it\, and its motion in response to those forces. \nIt is in this spirit\, Whiting Library is declaring December “Whiting’s Paws of Motion” month. Whiting’s Paws in Motion encourages animal lovers to get into the motion of sharing by donating to the Springfield Humane Society (SHS) from December 1st to December 31st. During this festive season\, let’s see how our actions to help animal can be a force for good in the world. \nThe campaign goal of “Whiting’s Paws of Motion” is stocking the Springfield Humane Society with much-needed supplies. Our four-legged friends need to feel loved during the holidays just like we do!
