Fun and Learning at the Library for Children of All Ages (and the young at heart as well)

The Whiting Library Youth Services department welcomes all patrons to explore a wide range of books for all readers, including DVDs, magazines, toys, games, fish, and so much more! Whiting Library provides a welcoming, safe, respectful space for diverse voices and perspectives. No longer just a place for books, Whiting Library strives to develop and maintain programs and collections that are as diverse as the populations that we serve. Youth Services Librarian Carrie Roy King is always ready to help with book and activity recommendations. Fun and educational programs are also planned throughout the year, so check back frequently for event listings on this page. Read past editions of the Whiting Library Youth Department e-newsletter by clicking this link.  Be sure to check back often for the latest additions to our youth library collection. We’re cataloging new books every week, from picture books and early chapter books to middle-grade graphic novels and young adult novels. Whether you’re looking for exciting adventures, heartwarming tales, or new favorite authors, there’s always something fresh on our shelves. Stop by and discover your next great read!

Library Update
Our renovations are complete, and the downstairs is officially open again!
Patrons are welcome to enjoy the Book Sale Room, Vermont Room, and Community Room when programs are not in session. We’re so excited to welcome everyone back into these refreshed spaces.

The main floor is open with books, puzzles, toys, and take-and-make crafts available to enjoy in the library. Your digital library is open 24/7 through Libby — just use your library card number and your PIN (your last name, first letter capitalized). Ask us if you’d like help getting started!
