At Whiting Library in Chester, we’re not just about books; we’re the heart of the community, offering a warm and inviting space for everyone to come together, have fun, learn, and grow. And guess what? Games are at the heart of what we do!

Join every Tuesday from 3-6pm for the Gamers Club, tailored for those aged 14 and up and led by engaging volunteers. Dive into tabletop role-playing games like Magic: The Gathering and Warhammer. It’s not just gaming; it’s storytelling at its finest! This volunteer-led group invites you to create and embody characters, crafting a thrilling narrative as you play.

The Whiting Youth Library and the Chester Recreation Department join forces on Saturday, September 23rd for a Pickleball Clinic for Beginners. This Games Group will take our racquet skills outdoors and enjoy some fun recreation. Don’t worry about equipment; we’ve got you covered! This session is full, but sign up now to stay in the loop about future pickleball clinics at www.chestervt.gov/recreation.html.

On Friday, September 29th from 3-4PM, it’s game time for kids! Choose from a wide variety of indoor games, including classic board games, card games, Wii games, and more. The library is where the fun never ends!

Mark your calendars for Friday, October 13th from 3-4PM. Kids, here’s your chance to dive into the exciting world of Pokémon. Make new friends, learn, and have a blast while playing in person. Plus, it’s the perfect opportunity to introduce your adult pals and fellow students to the game. Students should not bring Pokémon Trading Cards that are valuable or ones that they are not willing to lose in a trade. This child-led group is guided by a friendly adult volunteer.

Whiting Library is home to not one, but two weekly playgroups in Chester, perfect for the little ones (0-5 years old) and their caregivers. Join us every Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. These playgroups are a free, relaxed gathering where kids can play while grown-ups chat and make new friends.
